Everything’s gonna be alright

When my neighbour arrived at the vet, she was scolded because she hadn’t brought the cat to the vet the day before. The vet said that the kittens probably didn’t have a chance now :(
Thing is, Angela had called the weekend vet the day before, who said she could wait to go in until monday. Liesbeth, Arno’s sister who’s a vet, said the same. Lovely.

Anyhow, the vet palpated and said she thought there were two kittens still in the uterus, and gave the cat a shot to inhibit contractions. That didn’t work however, so my neighbour went back to the clinic because the cat would have to have a cesarian. The vet was very unfriendly, and told my neighbour ‘no’ when she asked if she could be there for the cesarian. At that point Angela became pretty frustrated with said vet, so she went for a second opinion in one of the other vet clinics nearby.

There they told her that sometimes it’s very normal for two kittens to be delivered 48 hours apart, and that as long as there are no contractions in between the kittens probably will not be harmed (if they are alive in the first place of course). So the cat got a second shot, and if that one doesn’t work before 4 in the afternoon, she will have to have a cesarian. At least at this clinic Angela can accompany the little cat. One thing that bothers me though … no one took an echo of the cat. I think that’s the first thing I would have done, just to make sure there actually ARE still two more in there.

More to come, undoubtedly

:( I hope it is normal and that everything is okay. It is a little stange that they didn’t do an ultrasound… but maybe vets think that a cat isn’t important enough for that (I guess they are expensive?). And to be scolded by the vet! Ugh!
