Weekend

Funny how you can plan a weekend, which then follows a completely different path than you’d expected.

Saturday we’d planned to participate in the Qurius motorcycle tour, Arno as designated driver and me as SIBW (Sit-in-backseat-wifey). I was actually pretty much looking forward to it, since it had been a while again since we’d participated in any kind of tour. The weatherforecasts for the weekend were less than stellar however, and on friday it was decided that the tour would be canceled. This left us with a completely free saturday we had not really counted on. No problem of course, so we did some shopping, some tiny bit of cleaning and for the rest hung around, napped and … uhm … not much more.

Sunday was meant for Arno to go beach volleyballing, while I stayed at home and would have my parents over. Again due weatherforecasts, beach volleyball was cancelled, and instead of having a sleepover in Hoek van Holland on saturday night, we found ourselves having dinner with a couple of Arno’s volleyball mates in Breda. We had dinner at Popocatepetl, which I liked. The food wasn’t great, but good enough, and the company was pleasant. I had an annoying headache however, which lead us to leave after dinner while the others went for drinks in the city.

Sunday, we slept in a little, I did some more serious cleaning, and when my parents arrived it was bright, sunny and warm outside. No fun for Arno who could have been at the beach hadn’t the forecasts be so way off, but we kind of made that up by yet again heading out into the city, having drinks with my parents on a terrace and – again! – eating out. This time at La Iguana, a little south-american thing which served better food than Popo. I so didn’t feel like cooking, and while Arno thought it a bit much to have dinner for a second time in a row, I didn’t regret it

It was good to see my parents again too. They had just come back from their month-long holiday in Greece, looked very healthy and tanned, and it was the first time that we saw them again after the wedding. We watched the video of the wedding, which they hadn’t seen yet, and just reminisced. Very nice!
