Life goes on

I know I know, it’s been awfully quiet here in the last weeks. It’s just that I wanted to post my account of Bali first, but it’s such a fricking amount of text that I am kind of daunted. And somehow I got it into my head that things had to be done chronologically of course, which is why I felt I shouldn’t post anything before I’d posted about the honeymoon.

Which is stupid of course :D

Suffice to say that the honeymoon was lovely. I hope I’ll feel up to it to post everything about it someday.

The first week after we’d arrived home was not so good. I suffered from a pretty bad jetlag topped off with just a pure chagrin that both the wedding and honeymoon were over. I’d always said I wouldn’t fall into the proverbial “black hole” but lo and behold, I keeled in head over heels. It already started on the way back from Bali on the plane – I found myself crying that it was “over”. Gah. Anyhow, it’s just very strange to have been working towards something for an entire year, and then suddenly within a blink of an eye you have passed it and should go back to real life.

Another thing that bothered both of us was that we had to go back to work and be separated. We’d spent close to a month in eachother’s company every day … it was hard to let that go. The second week went better, and by now I’ve got my good humour back luckily.

It’s good, being married. Not very different, but we already knew that. The only thing that is different is the way we are classified by others. There’ve been a lot of “just married?” jokes. But that will wear off in time I guess as well.

Anyhow, with the black hole looming over my head I’ve tried to find a nice new “project” to keep me occupied with. No, it’s not children :D

I’ve started to dabble in stockphotography, and to my great delight I’m actually selling. It’s not a big amount, but it’s adding up pretty rapidly! I get more out of it than just money too – shooting commercially forces you to up the ante as far as technical standards go, plus you need to start to thinking out of the box and go out of your comfort zone. I’m so used to shooting nature pics … it’s nice to focus on some other subject for a change. In lieu of this renewed interest in photography, I’ve got an appointment with a possible client next week for a model photoshoot. I am pretty nervous about it, since I don’t really do people shoots often and hope I can pull it off. We’ll see, we’ll see ….

So, life goes on. Work goes on. I hope to be able to put more in than the current two days a week shortly. I’m sideways glancing at a photography studies. I cut my hair and it’s pretty short and bouncy :D . I’m flirting with World of Warcraft again. I had a wonderful day in Rijswijk yesterday with Lannie. I went to a sauna and then dinner on the beach with Marsh and Lin last week. Life goes on.

I’ve been thinking about stockphotography too – I’m not sure my pics are good enough to sell though. Would make a nice extra income..
