*chattering of teeth*

It seems that lately everything around me has to do with cold in some way or other.
Arno stuck in snow, me having a cold and now freaking hell when I come home we don’t have warm water. My feet are freezing and I can’t do much about it cause one of Essent’s major pipes broke, meaning 40.000 families in my area are without heating or warm water.

It is freezing in here people. Argh.

And you know what that sweet sweet boyfriend of mine is doing right now? Boiling I don’t know how many litres of water on the stove to fill up my bath. I think that really counts as the most sweet thing anyone has ever done for me. I love this man. Did I tell you that already?

:(

Arno’s still out there :(

He’s stuck 40 kilometres outside Eindhoven on a snowed-in A50 where two trucks collided with eachother. To get out of the cold he drove onto a parking lot near a gas station, where he’s been for the last two hours or so. Cars are stuck on the parking lot: they can’t get onto the highway anymore.

I just called him on the phone – he’s decided to go inside, in to the gas station again because it’s warmer there and more comfortable than in the car. I am worried. I so so hope the station will remain open 24/7, otherwise he’ll be forced to retreat into his car again before long. And it gets really cold out there :(

I’m sitting here in a warm living room, just out of bath while he is out there. It drives me nuts that I can’t do anything.

stuck

Nov 25, 2005 by

The extreme weather has me cooped up in Delft with my parents at the moment – there is more than 30 km traffic jam between Delft and Breda, parts of which are stillstanding because the bridge across Moerdijk has been shut down.

Arno was stuck for a while in Apeldoorn and I was afraid he’d be stuck there forever, but apparently he is taking the backroads and on his way to Arnhem now. I have no idea whether either of us will make it home tonight. I think I might spend the night over here, while Arno will be forced to take a hotel somewhere.

Funny how all of Holland turns to mayhem as soon as a storm hits. Tsk.

days are filled

Nov 25, 2005 by

Life is good these days. Work is brilliant – where do you find a working environment which provides work you love, which permits you to run MSN as long as you don’t abuse it, play your own music, which ensures a stocked-up fridge with goodies and has nice collegues? I can’t be more content than I am right now. It’s a lot to take in though – there’s a lot about the CMS I don’t know and it is much, much more sophisticated than for instance WordPress. But I am getting the hang of it I think.

They provided me with a Volkswagen Polo, only to find out they’d given me a class too low so it was swapped and I am driving a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 FSI instead *whoohoo*. Downside to the entire story is the ever-growing freakish trafficjam-riddled Dutch traffic. It’s a nuisance, I swear. But well, you can’t have everything.

My evenings are filled with all kinds of things. Mostly White Tower related these days – and we haven’t even started in earnest yet :D . There’s a lot of plans in my head, but for now we are consolidating what we have and going one step at a time. The DMPSW Staff gives me more than enough to keep me occupied as well. Shayol Ghul is also growing big fast – if I really wanted to I could keep myself busy with DM 24/7 – but I don’t ;) I try to keep at least two weeknights free to do some WoW playing, and just to get to bed early. And to cuddle the Man of course :P .

Plan for tonight: see if I can get that frigging ISP to finally restore that WT database, see if there are bushfires to quench, and watch Lost. Yup. Looking forward to that!

volley aches

Nov 21, 2005 by

Ever tried to play a volleyball tournament without proper training? My advice: don’t.

Seneca participates in a company tournament every year and this time the asked me as well. No problem, fun to do, I thought, so I participated. I completely and totally suck at volleyball but hey :D

Today though I live to regret my sportive adventure. I can’t move a muscle without my entire body aching. I had no idea I had this many muscle groups. I mean, I can barely crawl down the stairs. Hot baths don’t help. If I sit still, it’s okay. My neck hurts like hell then, but that is all. It’s the standing up and walking around that have me go like “ueuuhghh.. *groan* owowowow … ggggg”. I feel like a 100-year old.

I’m wondering whether this signifies to do sports more – or to just never ever take up a volleyball ball again :P
